Approaches to teaching this unit
Some lessons may, as deemed appropriate by your judgement of pace and current learning, be sub divided and extended to cover two sessions.
The work and ideas in this unit are designed to offer an introduction to the field of audience studies. The list of set films for Eduqas and OCR has directed the choices for films to be studied in this unit. The intention is to introduce students to some of the set films they will study in more depth later in the course, and in beginning to get familiar with these films at this point, students will be directly gaining knowledge and understanding of the set films which will be of benefit for further study and for the final exams and any internal assessments you may offer.
In addition to the accompanying Edusites slides for each of the lessons, there is also a package of worksheets to support learning for many of the lessons in the SOL.
Each activity has a suggested timing - but dependent on the constraints / opportunities of your own timetable, these timings should be treated as elastic - capable of being stretched in the directions which best suit your and your learners needs.
